The company produces a wide range of halal-certified products using locally sourced ingredients and supplies retail, wholesale, and food-service clients across the region. Operations include food processing, packaging, and distribution of meat products in a controlled production environment.
We are looking for a qualified Scale Mechanic (Food Processing Equipment) to join our team and support the maintenance and repair of production equipment.
Job Duties:
- Inspect food-processing equipment, including slicers, packaging machines, vacuum systems, metal detectors, and weighing systems, to determine repair needs
- Repair or replace defective or worn-out components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
- Test and adjust repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and production efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance on food-processing and packaging equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure continuous operation
- Calibrate equipment such as scales, thermometers, pH meters, and detection systems to maintain accuracy and compliance with food safety standards
- Maintain records of repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment performance
- Ensure all equipment complies with HACCP, GMP, halal production standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues in a food production environment.
Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required
- Completion of college courses related to equipment or product repair, or a minimum of 2 years of related experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or manufacturing environments, is required
- Working knowledge of equipment repair, maintenance, and the use of hand and power tools is required
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues is required
- Experience repairing or maintaining food-processing or packaging equipment is required
- HACCP, SQF, or similar food safety knowledge is an asset
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 23 kg
- Comfortable working in refrigerated food production environments
- Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
