Our bakery departments feature over 30 varieties of hand-shaped artisanal breads, giant Roman-style pizzas, and hot sandwiches made fresh daily.
We are currently seeking an experienced Pizza & Bread Department Manager / Supervisor to lead our team at our Burlington location.
Job Duties:
- Oversee and manage daily operations of the Pane Fresco Pizza & Bread Department.
- Supervise and coordinate staff to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service.
- Assign duties, prepare schedules, assist with hiring, train employees, and monitor performance.
- Increase sales, gross profit, and productivity while minimizing shrink, waste, and labour costs.
- Order and manage inventory for the Pane Fresco pizza and fresh bread sections, ensuring adequate stock levels and compliance with food safety and health codes.
- Coordinate production planning based on sales trends, promotions, and seasonal demand.
- Ensure fresh, consistent, and quality products according to company standards and recipes.
- Maintain displays, pricing, signage, and proper stock rotation.
- Address customer inquiries, requests, and complaints professionally.
- Monitor sales performance, labour costs, waste reduction, and profitability targets.
- Uphold food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and company standards.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and assist with opening, closing, and other supervisory duties.
Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant manager role within a supermarket, bakery, food service, or retail environment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff, scheduling, hiring, training, and managing daily department operations.
- Experience with inventory control, ordering, merchandising, waste reduction, labour management, and achieving sales targets.
- Strong leadership, customer service, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment with shifting priorities.
- Flexible availability required, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards is required.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Experience in pizza, bakery, bread production, Pane Fresco, or fresh food departments is a strong asset.
